From behind the counter we see alot of changes take place at our stores. Has anyone else noticed that our buys are up on DVD and way down on those little VHS tapes. Lets think about this...DVD , VHS , 5 turns per copy to profit on DVD versus 20 for VHS. I give it less than a year before BBV premiers its first DVD only test store.

9.3.05: Thats right, I put that other statement up on 7.1.02 , can you believe that, it's like I could see the future. Most stores now have barely any VHS, and new stores being built have none to start with.

Besides, if you are not willing to part with your VCR, you probably don't want to move on, are holding on to all those episodes of your favorite programs from the 80's you taped. Got news for you, those tapes will wear out, you won't be able to get another VCR, there won't be anyone who knows how to fix your machine, and it won't be worth the cost anyway.

Also, from behind the counter, we have alot of promotions we have to deal with, Passes, Rewards, In Store Sales, Presales, Trades.

Passes: Now I have to say these are a very good deal for the customer, if you can come to the store a couple of times a week. At 30 bucks a month, its a real deal, no late fees, no due dates, control your expenses. It's a win, win for the customer.

Rewards: The longest ongoing promotion in the history of the company. 10 bucks a year gets you quite a bit. 1 free old dvd a month, if you pay for 5 rentals (movies or games) you get 1 free, and rent 1 mon-wed get an old dvd for free at the same time.

In-Store Promos: Now these change as often as gas prices do, 3 for 25 dvd, buy 2 get 1 games, 2 for 2 candy, its tough for us to keep up

Presales: Its all about Video Games these day (on a personal note, games are wonderful, they have given our store new life. When the movie business was starting to get boring along comes gamerush!!!)..,

Anyway, please preorder the games you are gonna buy, so we can make sure we have a copy to sell when you come in to get it.

Trades: Thats right, unless you have lived under a rock for a few years you should know by now that you can trade in your games and dvd's for store credit to apply towards future purchases.

Whew!, thats alot going on, well gotta go run some dvd's and practice my 9 step checkout. Later.
